Snow-dusted peaks, serene villages, and pistes that stretch as far as the eye can see – Saint-Gervais Mont-Blanc is now open, inviting skiers, snowboarders, and winter enthusiasts to explore its pristine slopes. Nestled at the foot of Western Europe’s highest mountain, Mont-Blanc, this hidden gem combines the magic of Alpine adventure with the art of refined mountain living.
The Évasion Mont-Blanc ski area is France’s third-largest playground, spanning 400 km of slopes and 108 lifts. From Saint-Gervais village at 1,150m up to Mont-Joly at 2,352m, it is a haven for all levels. Charming hamlets such as Saint-Nicolas de Véroce, Les Contamines, Combloux, La Giettaz—and even the famous Megève -dot the landscape, creating a tapestry of Alpine charm. Beginners will find their footing at Le Bettex, 1,840m up the mountain, while mixed-ability groups can effortlessly meet slope-side. Getting there is seamless: 15 minutes from Le Fayet TGV station, a glide on the Vallée ski lift, and a smooth gondola transfer in Saint-Gervais bring you directly to the slopes.
For those seeking a smaller, yet equally enchanting experience, Les Houches offers 55 km of slopes serviced by 15 lifts. Known for excellent snow conditions throughout the season, it’s a favourite among insiders. Here, the legendary Mont Blanc Tramway- the highest cogwheel train in France -adds an unforgettable touch of Alpine romance to every ascent.
Local skiers know where to go for the best thrills: the Grande Épaule red run delivers a 1,000m vertical drop framed by Mont-Blanc, Mont-Joly rewards with panoramic vistas from the summit, and powder hunters will find untouched trails alongside the Princesse run. Beginners glide down the 4 km Chateluy green run, enjoying sweeping views, while ski tourers can take guided routes above Le Bettex or test their mettle on the two-day Dômes de Miages itinerary.
Après-ski in Saint-Gervais is as indulgent as its slopes. The newly opened Le Refuge Chez La Tante – Mont d’Arbois, perched at 1,800m, offers 20 elegantly appointed rooms, wood-fired Alpine cuisine at Chez la Tante, and a spa with an indoor pool. Accessible via the Bettex cable car, it is a perfect retreat for both skiers and non-skiers seeking a cosy, luxurious escape in a snow-covered wonderland.
Lift passes begin from €63.50, making it easy for everyone to experience the magic of Saint-Gervais. Families can enjoy special group rates, while online promotions offer additional savings.
Saint-Gervais is more than a ski resort -it is a celebration of Alpine living. Thermal spas, baroque chapels, breathtaking vistas, and two exceptional ski areas combine to offer an experience that is at once exhilarating and serene. Just five hours from Paris by TGV, three from Lyon, or under two from Geneva, Saint-Gervais Mont-Blanc is the winter destination you’ve been waiting for.
