What makes Les Arcs different?
Les Arcs continues to lead the way in sustainable mountain tourism through practical action rather than promises. Les Arcs is the easiest ski resort in France to arrive to by train. With services from London with Eurostar Snow (one change in Lille), once you are in Bourg Saint Maurice, it is a 7 minute funicular ride to Arc
1600. The 100% electric journey takes just seven minutes, removing the hassle of the “last kilometre” between the station and the resort.
The resort remains the first and only French ski destination to retain two Flocon Verts, recognising its commitment to environmental transition in the mountains. It was also the first mountain resort in Europe to achieve B Corp™ certification, acknowledging high standards in environmental and social responsibility.
A village for every type of skier
With six distinct locations to choose from, Les Arcs offers a setting to suit every style of ski holiday. Stay in Bourg Saint Maurice, a lively year-round mountain town and the gateway to the resort, or in Arc 1600, the original village designed by architect Charlotte Perriand and connected to the valley by a seven-minute
funicular ride. Arc 1800 is the resort’s vibrant hub, packed with shops, restaurants and activities, while Arc 1950 offers a more stylish atmosphere with its pedestrian streets and upscale accommodation. For quickaccess to high-altitude skiing, Arc 2000 sits at the top of the resort beneath the iconic Aiguille Rouge. Architectural paradise Arc 1600 and Arc 1800 have both been awarded the “Architecture Contemporaine Remarquable” label,recognising their architectural significance. Created in the 1960s by pioneers including Charlotte Perriand, Roger Godino, Robert Blanc and Guy Rey-Millet, Les Arcs was designed to make mountain holidays accessible
to a wider audience. Their vision resulted in modern, functional buildings that maximise mountain views while minimising their footprint on the landscape. The resort remains one of the Alps’ most distinctive examples of
mountain architecture.
What’s New for Winter 2026-27?
New lift connection – Peisey-Nancroix to Plan Peisey. The iconic Lonzagne lift (the red yoghurt pots!) is being replaced by a new 10-person gondola. The modern lift will carry up to 900 people per hour and connect Peisey-Nancroix with Plan Peisey in just 3 minutes 20 seconds.
New Easy Ski routes will guide beginners and less confident skiers back to the villages via quieter pistes where possible, helping improve both safety and enjoyment on the slopes.
The popular Les Pitchouns trail in Peisey-Vallandry has been redesigned for winter 2026/27. The forest-themed route now features magical new scenery, hidden characters and surprises along the way, making it even more
Les Arcs becomes the first French ski resort to host the internationally renowned Candlelight concert series. On two evenings, the Centre Bernard Taillefer will be transformed by thousands of candles for immersive classical music performances. 27 December 2026 & 8 January 2027
Created by Champagne winegrowers Clémence Vautrain and Gauthier, La Descente in Arc 1800 is a new wine and champagne bar showcasing a hand-picked selection of bottles from their favourite producers.
La Belle Cocotte in Bourg Saint Maurice serves generous French comfort food inspired by traditional family recipes, with slow-cooked dishes and a warm welcome from owners Thomas and Stéphanie.
