There’s something rather fitting about showcasing some of the Caribbean’s most inspiring boutique hotels in the comfort of Everyman Cinema Birmingham. Relaxed, stylish and welcoming, the venue perfectly reflected the collection of hotels that Essential Detail proudly represents.
I recently had the pleasure of attending Essential Detail’s exclusive travel trade showcase, where a room full of travel professionals gathered for an afternoon dedicated to discovering authentic Caribbean escapes. Rather than simply presenting hotels, the event celebrated the people, stories and genuine hospitality that make these independently owned properties so memorable.
From Barbados to Saint Lucia, Jamaica to St Vincent & The Grenadines, each presentation highlighted hotels that offer far more than a beautiful place to stay. These are places where warm welcomes come naturally, local culture is woven into every guest experience, and returning visitors are greeted as friends.
Discovering the Collection
The journey began in Barbados, where three very different hotels showcased the island’s diversity.
On the peaceful west coast, Little Good Harbour offers an intimate boutique escape in the charming fishing village of Shermans. Its elegant cottage-style suites, relaxed atmosphere and award-winning Fish Pot restaurant make it ideal for couples and families looking for understated luxury away from the larger resorts.

A complete contrast can be found on the island’s dramatic east coast at The Atlantis Historic Inn. Overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, this beautifully restored heritage hotel has welcomed guests for more than a century. Rich in history and full of character, it’s perfect for travellers wanting to experience Barbados’ untamed coastline, authentic culture and slower pace of life.

Meanwhile, on the lively south coast, South Point Hotel sits in the heart of St Lawrence Gap. Offering stylish all-suite accommodation with fully equipped kitchens, it combines contemporary comfort with an enviable beachfront location close to some of Barbados’ best restaurants, nightlife and watersports, making it particularly popular for extended stays.

The showcase then transported guests to Saint Lucia, where two exceptional boutique hotels demonstrated the island’s contrasting personalities.
Hidden amongst 12 acres of tropical gardens, East Winds remains one of the Caribbean’s most cherished all-inclusive resorts. With just 30 charming cottages tucked into lush greenery leading down to a secluded beach, the emphasis is firmly on personalised service, exceptional dining and creating an atmosphere where every guest feels like family.

For something completely different, Rabot Hotel from Hotel Chocolat offers an unforgettable luxury experience overlooking the UNESCO-listed Pitons. Situated on a working cacao estate, guests can discover the fascinating journey from cocoa bean to chocolate while enjoying stylish eco-lodges, breathtaking rainforest views and innovative cuisine inspired by chocolate itself.

The spotlight then turned to Young Island Resort, an exclusive private island hideaway just off the coast of St Vincent. Reached by a short private boat crossing, this intimate retreat embodies barefoot luxury, with charming hillside cottages, many featuring private plunge pools, making it a firm favourite for honeymooners and couples seeking complete seclusion.

The final destination was the legendary Jamaica Inn, a true icon of the Caribbean. Located on a beautiful private beach in Ocho Rios, this elegant boutique hotel has been welcoming discerning travellers since 1950. Renowned for its timeless style, impeccable service, and loyal returning guests, Jamaica Inn perfectly embodies the glamour and sophistication of classic Caribbean hospitality. Join the exclusive jet set, which has included notable figures like Ian Fleming and Marilyn Monroe.

More Than Beautiful Hotels
What stood out throughout the afternoon was Essential Detail’s unwavering commitment to representing hotels with personality. Every property has been carefully selected not simply because of its location, but because it shares the company’s core values and delivers genuinely memorable guest experiences.
The Essential Detail collection is built around a simple philosophy:
- Boutique, charming and welcoming hotels
- Rich local character and fascinating history
- Authentic destination experiences
- Owner-managed properties with loyal, welcoming teams
- Guests who return year after year
- Outstanding guest reviews and repeat business
- Personalised service tailored to every stay
- Beautifully curated romance, honeymoon and wedding experiences
- Flexible options including extended stays, exclusive buyouts and rate rollovers
- A genuine commitment to sustainability and supporting local communities
For travel advisors, the showcase was an excellent reminder that today’s travellers are increasingly seeking meaningful holidays rather than simply luxury accommodation. They’re looking for memorable experiences, genuine connections and destinations with soul—qualities that define every hotel within the Essential Detail portfolio.
A Fantastic Afternoon
The event itself was equally enjoyable. Guests were treated to generous event bags filled with gifts and useful resources, kindly donated by hotel partners and Caribbean tourist boards, ensuring everyone left with something to remember the afternoon by. Excitement continued during the prize draw, with several lucky attendees winning fantastic accommodation prizes to experience these remarkable hotels first-hand.

One of the most valuable aspects of the showcase was the opportunity to spend time with the people behind the brands. Conversations continued long after the presentations had finished, with plenty of networking, destination discussions and shared enthusiasm for selling the Caribbean. There were prizes too.

For travel advisors wanting to learn more, Essential Detail has made comprehensive hotel fact sheets and downloadable high-resolution image libraries available for every property, providing invaluable resources to support future bookings.
Leaving Everyman Cinema, it was clear this wasn’t just another supplier presentation. It was a celebration of independent Caribbean hospitality, lasting partnerships and a shared passion for creating unforgettable holidays.

As travel continues to evolve, events like this serve as an important reminder that the best recommendations come from knowing the people behind the product. Essential Detail continues to champion hotels that offer authenticity, exceptional service and experiences that guests remember long after they’ve returned home—and that’s a story well worth sharing.
